Whoa! Beyoncé chops her hair into pixie cut
Beyoncé celebrated the end of her Mrs. Carter tour by ditching the weave and embracing super-short hair.
We did not see this one coming!
Beyoncé broke the Internet late Wednesday night when she posted three photos — without comment — that showed off her new pixie haircut. The filtered shots show Bey thoughtfully examining her new short strands in the mirror.
And we're really digging the new look!
The mom of Blue Ivy Carter is known for her eclectic mix of hairstyles, but this is the first time we can remember seeing her without long hair. It seems like the photos symbolize a new era for the the 31-year-old singer — her Mrs. Carter Tour is over, and now it's on to new ventures. It's definitely not a wig, either: Bey has Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll ($9) sitting on her vanity. The product is designed especially to help dry and damaged hair — something she wouldn't have to worry about if it was a temporary wig.
Or, maybe she was inspired to cut her hair after the unfortunate run-in with a fan — and not the kind that wants an autograph — last month. The singer was performing her hit "Halo" in Montreal when her hair got stuck in an electrical fan onstage. In true Queen B style, she kept singing and later made fun of the incident in a photo posted to Instagram.
"Gravity can't begin to pull me out of the fan again," she joked.
Will the short hair stick around? We'll have to wait and see, but all signs point to "no" since Beyoncé is the consummate performer and knows her hair and makeup play a big part in portraying various characters, both onstage and in the movies.
"Very," she told Elle of how important hair and makeup are in entertainment. "Especially playing Etta James in Cadillac Records — once I put on that blond wig and those thick eyebrows, I felt much more natural in her skin."
All we know for sure? Beyoncé looks super confident in her new style — and we're almost enticed to hit the salon chair and copy her.
