Sofia Vergara: I don't believe in the natural look
Sofia Vergara isn't afraid to admit that she loves makeup — and she never leaves home without it!
Don't expect star Sofia Vergara to join the list of celebrities embracing the no-makeup look. The Modern Family star tells Harper's Bazaar in her August cover interview that she's all about the unnatural look enhanced with plenty of product.
"I'm Latin; I do it no matter what. It's automatic," she tells the magazine. "I shower, do hair and makeup. For me, it's like shaving. I don't believe in a natural look. Lipstick brightens your face! Unless you're Gisele Bündchen or 19, you need something."
Or unless you look like Sofia Vergara. But, we digress...
Bigger is better, according to Vergara — and that translates to her 6-foot, 4-inch fiancé, Nick Loeb, and the huge engagement ring he gave her last year.
"Eets [sic] so modern; mine is like traditional, and eets so dirty," she tells the mag of her sizable sparkler. "Eets like I come out of the shower and I put cream all over, and then I look and I'm like, Oh, no! What happened?"
And her love of big things also translates to her huge collection of handbags — specifically, Birkin bags.
"I tell [my son] Manolo, 'If I don't have enough money for your college this month, you have to sell the Birkins,'" she jokes, adding that her business magazine chides her for spending so much money.
"What would you prefer? Me popping champagne bottles and doing drugs and wasting money or buying bags? These are valuable. These, Manolo can sell!"
All jokes aside, we appreciate the outspoken actress for not taking herself too seriously when it comes to her career.
"You know, I think what has made me successful is that I have no need to prove anything to anyone," Vergara says. "There are so many actresses who stop working because they take themselves too seriously — gorgeous women, but no roles. I don't have those insecurities; I'm very thankful that they're casting me. Now that I'm getting more secure with acting, I'm sure I could do other things. For example, I know I could do a psychopath. But it's not like I go to my agent and say, 'You have to make me in Schindler's List 2.'"
