Tamsen Fadal is a 7-time Emmy award-winning journalist, producer, author, and entrepreneur who has interviewed Presidents, power-players, and newsmakers from across the globe. Tamsen is the PIX11 Anchor of the 5pm, 6pm and 10pm news at PIX11, Tribune’s flagship station in New York City.
Prior to joining WPIX-TV, Tamsen was a correspondent for the CBS flagship station, WCBS-TV. With more than a decade of experience, she has covered stories ranging from the Hurricane Sandy, Newtown School Shootings, Columbia Shuttle Crash, the Washington, D.C. area sniper attacks, the crash of Flight 387, the London Bombings and the war in Afghanistan. In 2002, she traveled to Afghanistan and was embedded with the American troops during the war. Two years later, she was awarded the National Air Disaster Foundation (NADF) post 9/11, for contributions leading to improved aviation safety. Tamsen is a four time Emmy award winning journalist. She was awarded 3 Emmys in 2014 including one for On-Camera Achievement (News Anchor/Host) from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), Political News Special “Remembering Ed Koch” and Outstanding News Coverage as well as an Emmy in 2005 for her work as an Investigative Reporter. Tamsen was named the 2004 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award Recipient.
Tamsen has co-authored the self-help books,Why Hasn’t He Called? (McGraw Hill); Why Hasn’t He Proposed? (McGraw Hill) and Don’t Date Dumb. Her new motivational book, The New Single, May 2015, St. Martin’s Press, is a guide to empowerment after a big life change such as a breakup or divorce. She has appeared nationally on The Talk, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Lifetime, and A&E, just to name a few. She is a contributor to The Huffington Post, SheKnows, Daily Worth HealthStyleNY and EmpowHer. Tamsen’s writings have been featured in publications including Elle Magazine, Moves Magazine, Complete Woman, and the New York Times. Tamsen made her Broadway debut in CHICAGO, the musical in January 2010 followed by on-stage debuts in Broadway’s IN THE HEIGHTS and ROCK OF AGES.
In November 2011, Tamsen started her newest venture, Shansen Jewelry, alongside her first cousin,Shannon Elizabeth. A portion of all proceeds go to animal rescue and breast cancer charities.
Tamsen lost her best friend, who was her mother to breast cancer in 1990. Since then, she has been active in numerous charities working to find a cure and often speaks out in the fight against Breast Cancer. She is also very active in helping women veterans with Shining Service Worldwide, is an organization that supports the successful re-integration of women in the military to civilian life.
