About me: I have been staring at these words for three hours and still can't figure out what to write! Why is this so hard?! It's about me for God's sake I know who I am! My name is Rachel Ulriksen. I'm a third grade teacher, girl scout leader, wife, and mother of three who lives in Medford Lakes NJ.

Boring right? I know, that's why I keep erasing it.

What do you write about? Occasionally I dabble in politics and education, but my primary focus is special needs children. My son Kevin is developmentally disabled with aggressive tendencies. I do not, I repeat do not, one more time in case you didn't hear me DO NOT think my problems are larger than anyone else's but they're complex, and very few people can relate. It can be isolating, and I started writing with the dream of a safe haven where mothers like myself could be honest and help each other.

Are you an expert? Sort of? I only lost him once, at the Please Touch Museum. I found him real quick in the center of a gaggle of gorgeous, blonde teenagers batting his little red eyelashes. When it comes to Kevin, the only thing I DON'T worry about is sexual orientation.

Are you published? No

Have you ever been on TV? Nope

So there it is guys. That's me. I may not be much but I'm honest, about everything, all the time. I make habit of airing my dirty laundry because I see too many women trying to pretend they don't have any. I'm out to find the mother who believes she is alone in this world because her son hits, kicks, bites and pees on the walls if he's angry enough. My son once defecated on the floor and spread his poop on the walls because I wouldn't let him drink chocolate syrup right out of the bottle. In his Kindergarden year Kevin's school had to be placed in lock down 3 times because he was attacking children in the hallway and had to be restrained. Wanna know what I'm really an expert at? Bearing humiliation.

But I made it. I'm still here! And I've written a blog that details everything I've been through. It's called the Kevin Chronicles and I hope you'll check it out. Until then, I don't honestly know what I'm going to write but I'm hoping you'll consider reading it right Kev? Kev? Oh shit I lost him.
