Ready or not, the 80s are back in a big way, especially when it comes to eye makeup. Veteran celebrity makeup artist and beauty industry trend-setter Michelle Champagne recommends lining your eyes with black liner, then sweeping a copper shimmer over the whole lid. “This is a cool look for green-eyed girls,” she said.
“Purple is the color of the moment!” Champagne said. To get this easy eye makeup look, Champagne suggests using a deep aubergine along the lash line, then smudging it out with a cotton swab to create a smoldering, mysterious look. (Image courtesy of Dior)
To get sexy smoky eyes, Champagne recommends lining the lash line and bottom lash line with a creamy black liner. Blend it into the root of the lashes with a small liner brush to create a softer effect. Then, shade the lid with a kohl grey shadow. Add more depth to the outer corners of the eyes with a matte black shadow. Blend with a clean shadow blending brush.
If you’ve been blessed with blue eyes, show ‘em off this fall and winter with a shimmer brown sweep. Champagne has a few favorites. She recommends trying Becca Brocade, NARS Eye shadow Duo in India Song, and Chanel Ombre Essential in Le Bronze.
Prep for your next fall party with this simple but sexy eye shadow color. “One of my favorite eye makeup colors for fall is gunmetal. It’s a cool, gorgeous and sexy color,” Champagne said. She suggests Makeup Forever Eye shadow in Iridescent Anthracite.
Love the makeup seen on Mad Men? Steal the look this fall! Champagne suggests creating a strong brow and using bold eyeliner. “Keep the shadow simple. Use a matte bisque highlighter under your brow bone and taupe contour for center-of-the-eye crease. Then, add your liquid liner. Instant glam!”
Gray is everywhere this fall and winter. Don’t forget to use it around your eyes, too. According to Champagne, gray eye shadow is cool, classic and sophisticated. “Try using matte gray shadow blended from lash line to the contour of eye. Complete the look by lining the bottom waterline or eye with a gray or navy eyeliner pencil.”
This is the time of year for parties galore, so glam it up with false lashes! “Most cosmetic lines now offer strip lashes, which you can find at your local drugstore. If the strip application is too intimidating, then try the individual lashes. Get yourself a magnifying mirror and some DUO lash glue,” Champagne said. “You won’t believe the impact a few individual lashes can make!”
Make your eyes pop with dazzling, rich shades of eye shadows this fall and winter. According to Champagne, fall fashion requires heavier pigment tones for the eyes. “I love the gem tones. Try Trish McEvoy in Deep Amethyst and Arabian Nights, or POP Beauty Smokey Eye Palette (shown above)."
