No matter what the season, sexy, smoky eyes are always in fashion. “A smoky eye is my favorite go-to for a night out,” said Jessica Dunaway, senior colorist and makeup artist at Ted Gibson Salon in Washington, D.C. Dunaway recommends starting your smoky eye by priming your eye with an eye shadow base. “Dark colors tend to move, and a primer makes sure you look fabulous all night."

“In the crease of the eye, apply a mid-toned neutral, matte shadow. Sweep back and forth like a windshield wiper, creating a crescent shape,” said Champagne.

Now it’s time to use eyeliner. Dunaway recommends first lining your top lash line with a dark eyeliner, then doing the same to the lower lash line. “Take a Q-tip and smudge liner for a smoky effect.”

“Use your darker eye shadow shade and sweep over the entire lid and into the crease,” Dunaway said. “Don’t forget to blend the color upward and outward.”

Almost there! Dunaway recommends applying a highlighter under the brow bone and in the tear duct to brighten your eyes.

Next, Dunaway suggests intensifying the effect by lining your inner lash line.

Last step! “Curl lashes and finish with two to three coats of mascara,” Dunaway said. Celebrate your sexy, smoky eyes with a night on the town!
