Steal the look: Emmy makeup
Kerry Washington looked absolutely gorgeous at the 2011 Emmys. Big, playful lashes are the perfect complement to her picture-perfect brows. Her shimmering shadow and soft plum blush are beautiful too, but it's her glossy red lips that take center stage. Find the perfect shade of red lipstick for you and dare to wear it often. You can pull off red lips with confidence, whether you are going to the office, meeting your beau for lunch or heading to the PTA meeting.

One of our favorite looks at the 2011 Emmys was Rashida Jones' sexy-sweet side chignon and sultry (but not overpowering) makeup. Makeup artist Jo Strettell created her look with Maybelline cosmetics. Jones' eyes stand out with Maybelline New York Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black dotted in between her lashes, as well as lining them, to make her lashes look much more dense. She used a shimmery cream eye shadow in the corners of her eyes and to highlight the browbone. Several coats of Maybelline New York The Falsies by Volum’ Express Mascara in Blackest Black finish off the eyes. On Rashida's lips, Strettell used Maybelline New York Color Sensational High Shine Lipcolor in Dazzling Plum, and a dusty mauve blush added a little color to her cheeks.

Celebrity makeup expert Brett Fredman, who did Julia Stiles' makeup for the 2011 Emmys, calls this look "classic Hollywood with a touch of edge." Her eyes are smoky and beautiful without being too dark and her eyeliner looks just perfect. Take note that her cheek and lip color are barely there. When you play up your eyes (or any particular feature), you should keep the rest of your makeup neutral -- just like this.

Kelly Osbourne looked amazing in her aubergine Jay Mandel gown at the 2011 Emmy Awards, and her makeup was stunning -- especially the eyes. Makeup artist John Stapleton "decided to go for a more graphic eye, paying tribute to Sofia Loren." Stapleton used M•A•C Cosmetics to create her red carpet look. Vex eye shadow was softly swept over her lids with Powerpoint eye pencil in Permaplum smudged along the lash line, as well as in the crease in a distinctive V-shape. Shadowy Lady eye shadow is pressed into the crease and blended softly outward. To define Osbourne's eyes, Stapleton used Blacktrack Fluidline, both above and below, plus a lot of Zoomlash black mascara. He also added a #1 Lash to pump up the liner. Her eye makeup looked terrific with her spectacular gown, lavender-gray hair and sparkling silver manicure.

Speaking of eyes, we couldn't take our eyes off Lea Michele's makeup (and dress) at the 2011 Emmy Awards. Celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis created a cool, yet classic, look with defined eyes and super-long lashes using Lancome makeup. The Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Kissed by Gold was used on her lids, Artliner in Aubergine lined her eyes and multiple coats of Hypnose Doll Lashes mascara in So Black! gave her lashes a big boost. On her cheeks, Inglessis used a touch of rosy color with YSL Blush Radiance #1 and on her lips Lancome L'Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Coquette.

Make your eyes look bigger and brighter by applying a tiny bit of white eyeshadow near the inner corners. You can also extend your eye liner just slightly past the outer corners of your eyes to really open them up.
