HomErgency: The family
Meet the Norton family
The Nortons are a very busy family of four. Josh is a roofer and his wife Chris has been teaching for the last 11 years. Nate (almost 12) plays tackle football and Zack (8) plays soccer. The boys enjoy school and hanging out with friends.
The Nortons adore the outdoors and also like to entertain at home when friends and family come over for UFC fights, birthday parties and other gatherings. For relaxing time, they love just curling up on the couch together to watch a good movie.
About the house
The Norton family has lived in their home for about seven years. They have made quite a few updates to the house and have completed as much as they could afford to do on their own.
"We participated in HomeErgency knowing that they would make some great choices in designing a new look for our home," says Chris. "We knew they would bring to life the potential that our house held. These are things we always wanted to do, but never had the time or money to do. We were hoping they would give us an updated, more modern home that we could be proud of."
Worst parts of the house? The mirrors, the laundry room and the pink counter tops.
The importance of comfort
"I love what I do. I get to start everyday with 22 little first grade faces staring at me," says Chris Norton. "My class is great, but it is a tiring job. Josh has been roofing for many, many years and comes home exhausted. Having a comfortable space is important to us. We want a cozy area to relax when we can."
Heading into HomErgency, the Norton family really didn't know what to expect from the process. "We made guesses and played the 'what if' game," says Chris, "but we were truly shocked to see the drastic and beautiful changes that were done. It was a once in a lifetime experience and we feel so blessed for having been chosen to take part in it. All of our friends and family can't wait to see the results.
"Our house looks amazingly different, gorgeous and modern. The house is now a lovely home. We could have never made these drastic of changes on our own. We will be forever grateful!"
