And Her Son Trey
It's the Battle of the Boys. In Season 2 of our online HomeStretch TV series, we paired two moms with two designers to makeover their sons' rooms for $2,000 in two days. Let's meet HomeStretch participant, Kris Woodard, and learn about her son, Trey.
I have 3 kids: Amanda, 19; Trey, 11; and, Zach, 8. My kids and family are my everything. Gram lives with us, which is a blessing! We are a sports and outdoors family—football, basketball, baseball, track, and swimming.
My life is pretty much work, kids, practice, games, and church—but I wouldn't have it any other way! Trey wants to be an NFL player when he grows up. He LOVES football! His "plan B" is to become a veterinarian. He is a great student and a great friend! Trey loves little kids and has a huge, giving heart!
About trey and his room
Trey has always shared a room with his brother, Zach. It's a small room and I wanted to be able to give him his own space. And how awesome is it that it's now entirely NEW!
The room prior to the makeover was small with two beds. It was always a mess—cluttered, with very little space for storage or for his trophies; I had put them in a bin in the garage. The dresser he had was from his brother's baby furniture and was missing knobs. We had a 26-inch "old school" television on a television stand. There was a lot of furniture and little space. The border in the room was coming off the wall and I had to use tacks to hold it up. I just recently had to replace the blinds because they ripped them; it was just a mess.
I expected the HomeStretch experience to be a lot of fun and hard work in the two days we had to finish the room. What I didn't expect was the emotion that came over me as we put the room together. I was so filled with thankfulness—for the new friendships that were made with Christy and her team and family, the crew from SheKnows, and the blessing and gift of the room for Trey.
