The show that seemed unstoppable almost 3 seasons ago seems to be running out of steam, as the castaway drama Lost earned it's lowest rating ever for a new episode, 12.8 million (the show saw ratings of 20 million when it debuted back in 2004). ABC moved the show to 10pm ET on Wednesday so it wouldn't compete with Fox's mega-hit American Idol and the increasingly popular CBS detective drama Criminal Minds. Viewers blame not only the later air time (which traditionally has always had less viewer that the 9pm ET time slot), but also the long breaks in between episodes (ABC has split up the season by airing 6 episodes and after the break airing the remaining 16 new episodes uninterrupted by reruns). Viewers and critics alike have also voiced complaints that the storylines are confusing and not living up to expectations, a point not lost on the Emmy Awards voting panel as the show was shut out during the 2006 awards after winning best drama in 2005 . To its credit, Lost is pulling in 4 million more viewers that the show that inhabited the later timeslot last season, the short lived sci-fi drama Invasion. But a continued ratings free-fall could find Lost cast away from ABC's 2007-2008 fall line up.
