Make Your Kitchen A Clutter-Free Zone
The kitchen is the heart of the home but because we spend so much time there it can get untidy quickly. Fortunately, with a few easy changes, you can easily keep your kitchen looking spick and span.
Storage
The most common cause of clutter is usually not having enough storage space to keep things neat. Over-crowded cupboards and shelves will inevitably look untidy and spill out onto other areas of the kitchen. Why not consider a small trolley or unfixed island unit that will instantly give you extra space to keep things organised? You can even put up shelves for extra room – perhaps to display your best crockery, adding a decorative touch to the room.
Have a clear-out
Go through your cupboards and throw out anything that you do not need. From old takeaway menus to food and appliances you do no longer use. Be realistic. Are you really going to cook with that old frying pan with the almost broken handle? You will find that you actually use only half the things in your cupboards – maybe even fewer.
Give everything a home
Don't leave bits and bobs lying around. Find somewhere for all the items you need in the kitchen. Hang tea towels and keys on hooks. Keep things tidied away in a decorative bowl on the kitchen table or organise your herbs and spices on a spice rack rather than taking up space in your cupboards.
Get organised
Bills, letters and books should not be left lying around. Not only do they look untidy, but you could also risk losing something important. A freestanding unit of trays can be perfect for keeping paperwork organised and can be positioned in the corner of the room or on top of a kitchen unit. Make sure you have a calendar in the kitchen that is up to date so that you feel more on top of your everyday chores. It will then be easier to keep your house organised if your mind is as well!
