Peter Andre flies to Australia to be with ill brother

Peter Andre has flown to Australia to be with his family after hearing the news that his brother Andrew is in hospital receiving treatment for stomach cancer. Peter's other brother Mike joined him in flying to Australia to be with Andrew and support the rest of their family during what Peter has described as "a really difficult week."

Andrew Andre is 52 and lives with his wife Magda on Australia's Gold Coast. He is expected to undergo several operations this week in an attempt to remove the cancer, which is reportedly quite serious. Peter Andre found out about Andrew's illness while in Africa doing charity work, and decided to head to Australia immediately.

38-year-old Peter was born in London but emigrated to Australia with his family when he was six years old. However, he has lived in the U.K. since he became a well-known pop singer in the late 1990s, and has remained in the country to be close to the two children he had with his former wife, glamour model Katie Price.

Peter Andre opened up about the upsetting situation in his column in new! magazine this week, telling readers that he has left his children in the care of their mother while he is in Australia. Andre said that it has been "really nice" to spend time "hanging out" with his family, even if the reason he is with them is not a positive one.
