Will The Stones Tour For 50th Anniversary?

Rumours are spreading that a Rolling Stones reunion will take place this year as guitarist Ronnie Wood has said they would love to tour in celebration of the group's 50th anniversary.

Although Ronnie Wood didn't join until 1974, The Rolling Stones first became a group in 1962, and Wood's recent comments suggest the band's 50th anniversary this year will not go unmarked. Rumours have been rife for some time that a reunion could take place in the near future, and they have been fuelled by Ronnie's revelation that he met Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts for a jamming session in December.

It was reported in November that Jagger and Richards had met to discuss reunion possibilities, and Wood's recent remarks in an interview with the Radio Times suggest the meeting went well. Ronnie Wood said the band members are "on the verge" of touring again and are "all ready to go" if the plans come together. Drummer Charlie Watts also recently said in an interview with BBC 6 Music that "it would be lovely to do some shows."

The Rolling Stones released their last studio album, A Bigger Bang, seven years ago in 2005, and toured for about two years around the world to promote it. At the time Mick Jagger said, "We've got no plans to stop." It seems that after a few years' break, the men, who range between 64 and 70 in age, are ready to get back on the road.
