Brit Awards apologise to Adele for cutting her speech short

The Brit Awards have apologised to Adele for getting presenter James Corden to cut short her acceptance speech for the Best Album award in order for Lifetime Achievement award winners Blur to begin their performance.

Adele was one of the biggest winners and put on a great performance of "Rolling In The Deep" at yesterday's Brit Awards, but it was her response to her winning speech being cut short that was the most memorable moment of the night. She had barely begun her acceptance speech for the Best Album award she had won, generally considered to be the most important award of the night, when presenter James Corden stepped in to cut her off, and introduce the night's final performance from Lifetime Achievement award recipients Blur.

As the year's biggest British star, Adele fans were outraged at her moment of glory being cut short so disrespectfully. Adele herself responded in a typically fiesty manner, sticking her middle finger up at "the suits" who had made the decision. Appearing on Brits 2012 Backstage on ITV2 immediately after the event, Corden himself apologised to Adele and expressed his anger at the show's producers. The producers themselves apologised to Adele this morning, with a statement saying, "We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short due to the live show over-running."

Adele probably didn't go home too annoyed, however, as she did receive two awards and had a great response to her performance, one of her first since her return to work after her throat surgery. And at least she didn't get mooned by Jarvis Cocker or have a bucket of iced cold water thrown over her, as others have at The Brits before!
