Benefit breast cancer with baking
![]() Are you taking part in a bake sale to benefit breast cancer? Don't sell regular old brownies and chocolate chip cookies! Bring the theme of your sale into your foods by selling pink baked goods. Baking for a causePink swirled cupcakesCan you make a plain vanilla cupcake? If you answered yes, then you can make these, even though they look like they came from a professional baker. Simply mix up your favorite white or vanilla cupcake batter (boxed mix is fine!) and pour the mix into muffin tins lined with cupcake liners. Put a few drops of pink food coloring onto each cupcake and swirl it with a toothpick before baking. Top the cupcakes with pink icing, or just use white icing and add some color with pink sprinkles or candies. No one will believe you made them yourself! Pink-filled whoopie piesWhoopie pies are fun, delicious and impossible to resist, so they're perfect for any bake sale. For an easy whoopie pie, simply mix up your favorite chocolate cake mix and pour it into a piping bag (if you don't have a piping bag, pour it into a resealable plastic bag and cut off a small corner). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pipe the batter into small circles, leaving room between each for spreading. Bake them for about 10 minutes or until set, and then let them cool. Once they've cooled, ice the flat side of one with buttercream (dyed pink, of course!) and top it with another, flat side down. Pink M&M cookiesWe all love M&M cookies, partly because they take you back to your childhood, and partly because they're just plain delicious. Replace the multi-colored M&M's with only pink ones — these can be special ordered or purchased from most party supply stores. Pink Rice Krispies treatsRice Krispies treats are standard bake sale fare, probably because they're super simple to make, and no one can resist their gooey goodness. These treats are the same as the ones you're used to, with pink food coloring added. Melt three tablespoons of butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add a package of marshmallows and stir until melted, and then add pink food coloring. You'll probably need to use a lot of dye to make the pink color stand out. Remove the pot from the heat and mix in six cups of Rice Krispies. Stir until well blended, and then spread in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. To make them look even more special, use a ribbon-shaped cookie cutter to cut them out once they've completely cooled. Pink lemonadeAll these sweet treats can leave a girl parched! Sell cups of pink lemonade to complement your theme and quench your customers' thirst. It's easy to make — you can buy any mix, and most require that you simply add water.
