Volunteering opportunities and ways to give back

Bills keep piling up. Expenses are climbing higher and higher. Lay offs are happening everywhere!

Things are tough in this current economy. There are people in need, communities in need, animals in need, environments in need... and the list goes on and on. One thing for sure, there is never a shortage of volunteering opportunities. If there was ever a time of need, this is it. If there was ever a time for giving of ourselves and volunteering out time -- it's now!

Anne Frank was right; we don't become poor by giving. When we give of ourselves, we actually become richer. It doesn't cost anything to lend a hand, share a smile, offer encouragement, or give companionship. What we gain, instead, is a sense of well being beyond calculation. The sense of satisfaction from giving back to our community is indescribable. Maybe now, during these tough times, is the perfect time to give a little of ourselves to help brighten this dull world a bit.
