Shelters, medical aid & an outlet to speak
A horrifying statistic states that every two minutes, a person is overpowered and raped by another individual and forced to do something they do not want to do. This is an act no one should ever have to face.
Victims of rape must live with the memories of their attack and can, in turn, be scarred for life. Sadly, many of these rape victims are sexually assaulted by people they know, which all too often leads to silence about the action and bottled-up emotions leading to fear for a lifetime.
Victims of rape and sexual assault should not have to live within themselves, especially after facing emotional and physical damage. That's where organizations like Sheltering Wings come in.
Sheltering Wings is a nonprofit organization that lends a helping hand by providing emergency intake and care for victims of domestic abuse. From housing to security, counseling and legal services, Sheltering Wings provides critical aid immediately after someone has been abused. Sheltering Wings keeps them safe and checks physical health, then leads them through a mental coping process immediately after they've physically harmed. The organization is also a rape crisis center that provides free support to victims of sexual violence. That support includes a 24-hour crisis hotline, case management and therapy, among other services.
You can help Sheltering Wings provide that much-needed supported at Sevenly.org. Every product sold from Sevenly this week donates money to help Sheltering Wings with its sexual assault and rape initiatives. With each purchase, your support will help provide safety for victims of rape and sexual assault and raise awareness of this far-too-common reality.
Sevenly is a social good fashion brand that partners with a new charity each week, selling limited-edition lifestyle products. If you purchase from Sevenly, $7 from each sale goes toward the charity of the week, raising funds and awareness. Sevenly believes people matter, and since June 2011, they have raised over $2.3 million.
