Wrangler Beans in a Crock Pot

The beef in this recipe can be replace with pork if you would rather use ham.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dry pinto beans
  • 6 cups cold water
  • 2 pound lean beef, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. crush red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. cooking oil

Directions

  1. Put beans in a bowl and fill with water to soak overnight.
  2. Drain beans and set aside.
  3. In a skillet saute onion, pepper and garlic in oil.
  4. Add beef to the skillet and brown.
  5. Place all ingredients in a crock pot and stir.
  6. Add enough water to cover all ingredients.
  7. Cook on low 3 to 6 hours.
