Wilted Cabbage Salad can be made with either green or red cabbage.
Ingredients
- 3 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoon vinegar
- 2 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 small head cabbage, shredded, about 4 cups
- 1 apple, pared, cored and finely chopped
Directions
- In skillet, cook bacon till crisp; drain, reserving drippings. Set bacon aside. Add onion to drippings; cook until tender. Stir in vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper; bring to boiling. Add cabbage and apple; toss to coat. Cover and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes or till cabbage is just wilted. Crumble bacon over top.
