Fred Flintstone is a big fan of Wilma's Pound Cake.


  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1-3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon desired flavoring


  1. Cream shortening in bowl until light and fluffy. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating continuously. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until light and fluffy.
  2. Add flour and mix alternately, beating well after each addition and adding baking powder and salt with last flour addition.
  3. Beat in flavoring and continue beating for 3 minutes. Pour into a greased and waxed paper-lined tube pan.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until cake tests done. Cool for 10 minutes and remove from pan to cooling rack.
