This cocktail is named after the legendary French Quarter in New Orleans called ‘Vieux Carré,’ and is equally as intense and original.
Ingredients
- 1/2 ounce rye whiskey
- 1/2 ounce Cognac
- 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
- 4 dashes Bénédictine D.O.M.
- 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
- Ice
- Lemon twist to garnish
Directions
- Place a cocktail glass in the freezer for 5 minutes to chill.
- Put the whiskey, Cognac, vermouth, Bénédictine D.O.M., and bitters into a cocktail shaker and then fill with ice.
- Shake the mixture vigorously for about 35 seconds and then strain into the prepared glass.
- Garnish with the lemon twist and serve immediately.
