Use this syrup to sweeten drinks instead of sugar. The delicate hint of vanilla flavor is made from using real vanilla beans.
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 vanilla beans
- Place the sugar and water into a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Once sugar has dissolved remove from heat and set aside.
- Using a sharp knife split the vanilla beans, lengthwise, in half and place into a heatproof bottle.
- Pour the boiling sugar mixture into the bottle and let stand for 10 minutes.
- Close the bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
