Turnip and Carrot Salad

Use a box grater or a food processor to cut the raw carrot and turnip into very thin strips for this fresh and crispy salad.


  • 2 medium carrots, peeled
  • 1 turnip, peeled
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/8 cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves
  • 1 teaspoon black sesame seeds


  1. Grate the carrot and turnip into extremely thin slices and then place into a salad bowl.
  2. In another bowl, combine the lime juice, vegetable oil, sesame oil, sugar, cayenne pepper and fish sauce by whisking together until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Drizzle the dressing over the carrot mixture and toss to coat.
  4. Sprinkle the salad with the cilantro and the black sesame seeds to garnish.
