This rye-based cocktail is all about big, bold flavor with the key ingredient being the Fernet Branca; an herbal Italian digestive that adds a bitter, slightly herbal and spicy burst of flavor with aromatic undertones.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces rye whiskey
- 1/4 ounce Fernet-Branca
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- dash Angostura bitters
- orange twist to garnish
Directions
- Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker, except for the orange twist, and then fill with ice.
- Slowly stir the mixture for 35 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish the cocktail with the orange twist and serve immediately.
