Creamy tomato and rice soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef stew
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups stewed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup rice, uncooked

Directions

  1. Brown the beef in the shortening, drain excess fat.
  2. Mix in the water, tomatoes, pepper and salt and bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in the rice and bring to a boil again. Cover and reduce to a simmer. Cook for 40 minutes.
