This brandy-based cocktail’s first documented appearance was made in the 1884 publication, Modern Bartender's Guide by O. H. Byron.
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 ounces brandy
- 3/4 ounce dry vermouth
- 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
- 1 dash Orange bitters
- Cherry to garnish
Directions
- Place all of the ingredients, except for the garnish, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Slowly stir the mixture for 40 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish the drink with the cherry and then serve immediately.
