This cocktail gets its name ‘Vieux Carré,’ meaning ‘the French Quarter,’ from the oldest and most famous neighborhood in New Orleans.
Ingredients
- 3/4 ounces Cognac
- 3/4 ounces rye
- 3/4 ounces sweet vermouth
- 1/4 ounces Benedictine
- 1 dash Peychaud’s Bitters
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
- Lemon zest to garnish
Directions
- Place all of the ingredients, except for the garnish, into a cocktail shaker and then fill with ice.
- Stir the mixture for 20 seconds to combine and then strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with the lemon zest and serve immediately.
