According to an April 4th, 1889 article in the New Haven Register, the Bengal Cocktail came into existence, in New York, in January 1889.


  • 1 Dash Maraschino
  • 3 Drops Absinthe
  • 2 Dashes Orange Bitters
  • 1 ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 ounces Old Tom Gin


  1. Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Slowly stir the mixture for 35 seconds and then strain into a wine glass to serve.
