The number 44 in this recipe’s name comes from the amount of coffee beans that are stuffed into the orange. Enjoy this infused white rum concoction over ice or mixed into your favorite cocktail.
- 1 liter white rum
- 1 large navel orange
- 44 coffee beans
- 44 teaspoons of sugar (a little less than 1 cup)
- Place the sugar and the rum into a jar and stir well until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Make 44 slits into the orange with a sharp knife and then stuff each slit with a coffee bean. Place the orange into the jar with the rum mixture, seal and then place in a cool, dark area for 44 days to infuse, shaking the jar occasionally to agitate the mixture.
- Strain the mixture using a cheesecloth and store in the freezer until ready to use.
