Tender Almond Cookies

Tender Almond Cookies are cut out with a round cookie cutter and  decorated with an almond on top.


  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • blanched almonds, split in half
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon


  1. Cream butter; add sugar gradually. Add egg, mix thoroughly. Sift flour with baking powder. Add to creamed mixture. Chill.
  2. Roll 1/2 of chilled dough onto a floured board. Roll 1/8 inch thick; cut into rounds with a cookie cutter. Mix sugar and cinnamon together; sprinkle each cut out cookie with sugar mixture.
  3. Arrange 3 almond halves on each cookie. Place on a buttered baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 8 minutes or until lightly brown.
