This sweet snack has a vanilla wafer taste, but is soft and moist. Makes a great afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix together egg, sugar, flour and shortening.
  2. Add buttermilk, baking soda and vanilla; blend well.
  3. Roll out dough and cut out with a cookie cutter.
  4. Place onto a prepared cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
