Sweet Meatballs with Matzo

Serve these meatballs as an entrée or with spaghetti.  Either way, they are sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1-1/2 cups onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup matzo meal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice

Directions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup onion, eggs, matzo meal, salt and pepper.
  2. Add beef; mix well.
  3. Shape into 1-inch balls; set aside.
  4. In a Dutch Oven, mix together sugar, tomato sauce, lemon juice, sugar, 1/2 cup water and 1 cup onion.
  5. Add meatballs; bring to a boil.
  6. Cover Dutch Oven; reduce heat.
  7. Let simmer for 45 minutes or until meatballs are thoroughly cooked.
