Wonderful base dough for many different breads.
Ingredients
- 2 cakes yeast
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 cups flour
Directions
- Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water.
- Scald the milk. Add in the margarine, vanilla, sugar and salt. Cool.Mix in enough flour to make a thick batter. Add the yeast mix and the egg. Beat well.
- Knead for about 10 minutes, place into a greased bowl and allow to rise for about 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and then work into desired shape.
