Crushed ginger snaps are the secret ingredients in Sweet and Sour Meat Balls with Sauce.
Ingredients
- Meat Balls: 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons cracker meal
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Sauce: 1, 8 ounce can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 6 ginger snaps, crushed
Directions
- Mix together meat ball ingredients except for butter. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Heat butter and brown meat balls.
- For sauce: Mix all ingredients together except for ginger snaps. Simmer 1 1/2 hour with meat balls. Add ginger snaps and simmer 30 minutes more.
