Supreme Beef Stroganoff

Supreme Beef Stroganoff is lightened up with the addition of fat free yogurt.


  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 pound lean beef sirloin, about 1/2 inch thick cut into 3 by 1/2 inch strips
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup condensed beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup fat free plain yogurt
  • hot cooked noodles or rice


  1. Heat butter in 10 inch skillet until melted. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir over medium heat until tender. Add beef and mushrooms; cook and stir about 7 minutes or until beef is no longer pink.
  2. Stir in wine; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Stir cornstarch into broth until smooth; stir into beef mixture. Cook and stir over medium high heat until thickened; remove from heat. Stir in pepper and yogurt; heat through over low heat if necessary (do not boil). Serve over noodles or rice.
