This Super Pound Cake is an old fashioned, tried and true family favorite.
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 10 egg yolks, well beaten
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 10 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 4 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
Directions
- Cream shortening, butter and sugar; add egg yolks and lemon juice; beat thoroughly. Fold in egg whites, then sifted dry ingredients. Bake in waxed paper lined loaf pan at 325 degrees F for 90 minutes.
