You can either make your own simple syrup by heating one part sugar and one part water in a saucepan until all of the sugar has dissolved, over use a pre-purchased variety to make this black tea and star anise infusion.
- 1 black tea bag
- 12 ounces simple syrup
- 6 star anise pods, lightly crushed
- Place the tea bag into the simple syrup and let steep for 15 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bag and then add the crushed anise pods to the mixture.
- Cover the mixture and set aside for 24 hours before straining through a fine mesh sieve and placing in a airtight glass container until ready to use.
