Spicy Pot Roast with Wine

You can make a wonderful gravy out of the left over liquid once you remove the roast from the pot.

Ingredients

  • 4 pound beef roast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pkg. brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 2 tsp. Dijon-style mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder

Directions

  1. Season meat with salt and pepper.
  2. Place in crock pot.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl.
  4. Pour over meat.
  5. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours.
  6. Remove meat and slice.
  7. Thicken sauce with flour dissolved in a small amount of water, and serve over meat.
