Cayenne pepper gives Spicy Barbecued Spareribs their kick.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds spareribs
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 cup catsup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup celery, diced
Directions
- Brown ribs on both sides in shortening in Dutch oven. Brown onion in butter in skillet. Add remaining ingredients and 1 cup water to onion, heating until very hot.
- Pour over ribs. Bake at 375 degrees F for 1 hour 45 minutes.
