Get your family out of bed Sunday morning with these fragrant, moist Sour Cream Muffins. 

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Directions

  1. Beat egg until light. Blend in sour cream, dates, shortening and sugar.
  2. Add sifted dry ingredients to sour cream mixture. Stir lightly.
  3. Fill greased muffin tins (standard size) two-thirds full.
  4. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from muffin tins and serve warm.
