With these cookies, you get the old-fashioned taste without the hard crunch.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4-1/2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Cream butter, sugar and eggs.
  2. Stir in molasses.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg.
  4. Blend flour combination into egg mixture.
  5. Allow dough to chill in refrigerator for 1 hour or until dough can be easily handled.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll in sugar.
  7. Place onto prepared cookie sheets.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-12 minutes.
