Skillet fried cornbread drops.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons shortening

Directions

  1. Mix together the cornmeal, soda and salt. Stir in the eggs and buttermilk. Continue mixing until smooth.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet. Use a tablespoon to drop dough into the oil. Cook until browned on both sides. Drain.
