Hot waffles from scratch.
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 5 tablespoons shortening, melted
- Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
- Beat the egg yolks, milk and shortening together in a separate bowl. Combine with the dry mixture.
- Beat the egg whites and fold in.
- Pour batter into a hot waffle iron and cook until browned.
