Lemon Sauce is perfect over freshly baked gingerbread.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon rind, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions

  1. Mix sugar, cornstarch and water together in top of double boiler. Beat until smooth over medium heat. Add butter, lemon rind, juice and salt. Mix well and serve over gingerbread.
