You’ll want to use a richer and more flavorful brand of bourbon for this cocktail, such as Old Forester, so that it can hold its own when combined with the champagne.

  • 1 ounce bourbon
  • 1 barspoon Cointreau
  • 7 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 7 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
  • 5 ounces champagne
  • Lemon zest twist to garnish


  1. Place a champagne glass in the freezer for 5 minutes to chill.
  2. Pour the bourbon into the prepared glass, followed by the Cointreau and both bitters. Top the cocktail with the champagne and then garnish with the lemon twist. Serve immediately.
