I call this blend a "season all" because the combination of earthy spices enhances the taste of everything it touches. Rub it onto meats, poultry and fish before grilling or broiling. Sprinkle it on scrambled eggs, lightly cooked vegetables or fresh fruit (yes, even fruit). Mix it with toasted wheat germ and top plain cottage cheese or yogurt.


  • 2 ½ tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 2 ½ tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt


  1. Combine ingredients and store in a small airtight container or a clean standard spice jar.
