Scratch cake with chocoalte icing.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs
- ICING INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 box powdered sugar
Directions
- Sift together the dry ingredients except for the sugar.
- Beat the sugar and shortening together until creamy. Blend in the milk and flour mixture. Stir in the vanilla and eggs.
- Pour into 9 inch pans and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes.
- To make the icing, melt the butter and beat in the remaining ingredients until smooth.
