Scratch cake with chocoalte icing.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • ICING INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 box powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Sift together the dry ingredients except for the sugar.
  2. Beat the sugar and shortening together until creamy. Blend in the milk and flour mixture. Stir in the vanilla and eggs.
  3. Pour into 9 inch pans and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes.
  4. To make the icing, melt the butter and beat in the remaining ingredients until smooth.
