Homemade sausage meat balls.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pork sausage, ground
- 1/2 pound beef, ground
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 3 cups mashed potatoes
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 cups bread crumbs
Directions
- Mix together the sausage, beef, salt and pepper. Shape into 1 inch balls.
- Heat the shortening and brown the meatballs. Drain and cool.
- Combine the milk and eggs. Once the meatballs are cool to the touch, dip in the milk mixture. Cover with the mashed potatoes and roll in the bread crumbs. Let stand for 30 minutes.
- Place the meatballs in a deep fryer until golden brown.
