For a great Oktoberfest meal, serve Sauerbraten Meatballs over mashed potatoes or buttered wide egg noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 8 peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 teaspoons ginger snaps, crushed

Directions

  1. Make golf ball sized meatballs and brown.
  2. Mix water, ketchup, brown sugar, peppercorns, bay leaf, salt, raisins and ginger snap crumbs together in a small bowl. Add to meat balls and bring to a boil. Cover skillet tightly.
  3. Turn heat to low, simmer for 15 minutes. Stir and cook 15 minutes longer.
