For a great Oktoberfest meal, serve Sauerbraten Meatballs over mashed potatoes or buttered wide egg noodles.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 8 peppercorns
- 1 bay leaf, crumbled
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 teaspoons ginger snaps, crushed
Directions
- Make golf ball sized meatballs and brown.
- Mix water, ketchup, brown sugar, peppercorns, bay leaf, salt, raisins and ginger snap crumbs together in a small bowl. Add to meat balls and bring to a boil. Cover skillet tightly.
- Turn heat to low, simmer for 15 minutes. Stir and cook 15 minutes longer.
