Saucy Chicken Livers are flavored with tomatoes and red wine.
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken livers
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onions, minced
- 1, 16 ounce can tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons red wine
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon flour
Directions
- Cut each chicken liver in half; remove white membrane.
- In 10 inch skillet over medium heat, in hot butter, cook livers and onion until livers are lightly browned and onion is tender. Add tomatoes with their liquid, wine, sugar, basil, salt and pepper, stirring to break up tomatoes; heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover; simmer 10 minutes.
- In cup, mix milk and flour; gradually stir into mixture in skillet; cook over medium heat, stirring, until thickened.
